QUEENS COUNCIL ON THE ARTS HOSTS THE JAMAICA ARTS LEADERS TOWN HALL AT
JAMAICA CENTER FOR ARTS & LEARNING

Queens – Wednesday, January 13, 6:30-8:30pm, Queens Council on the Arts (QCA) hosts the Jamaica Arts Leaders Town Hall in partnership with the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL). Open to the public, the Town Hall gives a voice to what artists need in Jamaica by engaging the community in conversation, shining a light on the community’s artists, and focusing on Jamaica’s creative potential. Town Hall agenda items include:

 

~ Securing Affordable Studio Spaces for Artists in Jamaica

~ Establishing Downtown Jamaica as a Cultural District

~ Creating Dedicated Spaces in Jamaica for Making Public Art

 

The Jamaica Arts Leaders Town Hall at Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning will feature a panel of leaders in the New York City arts community including:

David Johnston, Executive Director, Exploring the Metropolis

Kendal Henry, Director, Percent for Art, Department of Cultural Affairs

The Town Hall is organized by Jamaica-based visual, performing, and literary artists selected to participate as fellows in QCA’s artist leadership development program including Okechukwu Ofiaeli, Rejin Leys, Marvenia Knight, Stephanie Davis, Shenna Vaughn, Patricia Ghizamboule, and Sol Gonzalez.
